Artist’s Statement
In My Hands, You Remain is a multimedia installation by Mona Navaei exploring grief, memory, and the ongoing connection with her father. Through moving images, photographs, and handmade photobooks, the work reflects on the ways memories return and transform over time.
Created from personal archives and family photographs, the installation considers the relationship between presence and absence, distance and belonging, especially through the experience of losing a loved one while living away from home. The work invites viewers into a space where images, sounds, and materials become fragments of remembrance, allowing memory to unfold through touch, repetition, and reflection.
