Crushed

August 20, 2024 - August 27, 2024

Amy Snider

Master of Fine Arts Graduate Exhibition

Exhibition Statement

Crushed is an art installation on the topic of climate anxiety. Amy Snider's MFA Graduating Exhibition is a full disclosure of her own distress over the state of the environment due to the climate crisis. Through this work, she shows others that such feelings are legitimate and shared. She works towards de-stigmatizing this topic, believing that we need everyone who is concerned about the state of the world to be able to say so. Connecting with others and taking action are the two best means of staving off despair, as Amy has experienced herself. Visitors to the show are also invited to a free in-gallery event titled "Climate Anxiety Conversation and Support" at 7pm on Aug 27th. Psychologist Amber Klatt and certified counsellor Russell Charlton will co-facilitate a conversation on distress caused by environmental crises. They will also teach coping strategies and talk about opportunities for support and community. Registration requested by Aug 26th; email ecostresssask@gmail.com.
